Work

Hummingbird Ideas partnered with the Mobile Museum of Art at an important turning point. As new leadership took shape and plans emerged to rethink the building, exhibitions, and visitor experience, the museum needed a visual identity and website that aligned with its evolving role in the community.

Branding

The new logo was designed to bring clarity, boldness, and flexibility to the brand. Built around the letterforms MMOA, the mark uses negative space to form the “O” between the M and A, transforming it into more than a letter. The O functions as a frame and focal point, creating a versatile visual device that can highlight artwork, photography, or graphic elements used to tell the museum’s story.

This approach gave the logo a strong presence and personality, while allowing it to adapt across various platforms, including exhibitions, signage, digital media, and marketing materials. A refreshed color palette was developed to support the new mark, using bold jewel tones and vibrant accents that felt engaging and inclusive without feeling overly childlike. Together, the logo and color system positioned the Mobile Museum of Art as a dynamic, accessible cultural institution ready for its next chapter.

Website Design & Development

The new website was designed to support the Mobile Museum of Art’s mission by creating a clear, welcoming digital experience that encourages exploration and participation. The structure prioritizes what matters most to visitors, including exhibitions, events, and programs, and presents them in a clear and easy-to-navigate format. A unified calendar brings all events and programs into one place, helping visitors quickly see what is happening and plan a visit.

The site also simplifies key actions such as visiting the museum, donating, becoming a member, and registering for classes. Thoughtful layout, clear hierarchy, and flexible components enable the website to adapt across devices while maintaining consistency with the museum’s updated brand. Together, the design and functionality position the website as an accessible entry point that supports engagement, strengthens connections with the community, and reflects the museum’s evolving identity.
